This blog is about the things that matter to me. I don't have a husband or kids to write about, so I write about the beliefs I espouse and the thoughts I have borne. Take it or leave, this is who I am.

HA HA!
ok, well, seriously, I wouldn't hold my breath ladies. It took me like 24 years of life to start a blog. I wouldn't say I'm on the edge of cool. Or maybe I am, but it's the outer edge....
I am in a very transitional period in my life right now, and I am loving getting to know who I am and what I value.
I love working with at-risk teenagers. I hate olives and bigots. I collect Sharpies. I have a passion for learning, and I get so excited about my new discoveries that I want to share them with everyone. I love living on the Colorado Plateau- you can't help but be healed and uplifted by the history and beauty of the redrock canyon country. I am obsessed with books- I love to hold them, flip through them, smell them, and organize them, I even love dusting my bookshelves. I love pop culture, especially all things 80s. I am fascinated by people. I love movies, music and memoirs, and I don't really get poetry. I'm just another tree-hugging hippie. I'm still holding on to the dream that Alex P. Keaton will ride in on his white Volvo and drive me off into our happily ever after. I can't get enough of Broadway musicals or John Cusack. I deeply admire the free-spirited, artistic, and care-free personalities of the world. My life's ambition is to save everyone. I have been told my whole life how mature I am for my age, but I sleep with a Disney Princesses night light.
I love books, movies, and music. I believe they are an important part of informing the way we experience the universe and each other. For great recommendations of books, music and movies to check out read my profile.
"A time Comes when silence is betrayal. Men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government's policy, especially in time of war. We must speak with all the humility that is appropriate to our limited vision, but we must speak. For we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness so close around us... We are all called upon to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for the victims of our nation, for those it calls enemy, for no document from human hand can make these humans any less our brothers." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., New York, 1967
"We can no longer afford to confuse peaceability with passivity. Authentic peace is no more passive than war. Like war, it calls for discipline and intelligence and strength of character, though it calls also for higher principles and aims. If we are serious about peace, then we must work for it ardently, seriously, continuously, carefully, and bravely as we have ever prepared for war." -Wendell Berry, A Citizen's Response to the National Security Strategy of the United States of America, 2003
“Faith is the centerpiece of a connected life. It allows us to live by the grace of invisible strands. It is a belief in a wisdom superior to our own. Faith becomes a teacher in the absence of fact.”- Terry Tempest Williams
"What threatens us today is fear... Our danger is the forces in the world today which are trying to use man's fear to rob him of his individuality, his soul, trying to reduce him to an unthinking mass of fear... This is what we must resist, if we are to change the world for man's peace and security... So never be afraid.Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion, against injustice and lying and greed. If you...will do this, not as a class or classes, but as individuals, men and women, you will change the earth."-William Faulkner
"Our lives begin to end when we become silent about things that matter"- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
